Brazil nuts
Chestnuts from Pará, also known as Brazil nuts (in Portuguese: Castanha-do-Pará or Castanha-do-Brasil) Origin; Center of Belém, Pará, northern Brazil, Bolivia and Amazon rainforest.
Brazil nuts are seeds that grow on one of the largest and longest-lived trees native to the Amazon rainforest and have been eaten by native Amazonians since the Upper Paleolithic era. They are an excellent source of essential fatty acids, plant protein, and selenium, and are also rich in micronutrients such as copper, manganese, and vitamins B and E.
Brazil Nuts are the only commercial dried fruit found exclusively in the Amazon forests. Consuming them helps towards the preservation of the rain forest since it is illegal to cut down trees in areas where Brazil Nuts are harvested.
Wild harvested and sustainably hand-picked deep inside the Amazon rainforest, our Brazil Nuts grow in a nutrient-dense soil where they are naturally abundant.
Our Brazil Nuts are whole and natural, perfect as a snack or to top your favorite recipe. Best of all, they are wild! Meaning they are naturally organic, requiring no additional resources to thrive other than what is available in their native environment.
The Brazil nut is a large tree, reaching 50 m (160 ft) tall and with a trunk 1 to 2 m (3.3 to 6.6 ft) in diameter, making it among the largest of trees in the Amazon rain forests. It may live for 500 years or more, and according to some authorities often reaches an age of 1,000 years.
